WTF?
Still in offline mode. I'm going to reboot and see if I just need to clear a cache file out or something. I can't get rid of my darn signature!-á Oh, wait.... |

First Time~ launcher\icudt.dll, missing 152 out of 152 blocks
2nd Time~ URLError:urlopen error [Errno 100 13]
Doubt it will help, but launcher crashes after I tried repairing.
The URLopen error is because one or more links that the Launcher connects to aren't functioning.
The DLL error is likely what's causing the crash -- if that's corrupted, you may need to do an entirely fresh install. I can't get rid of my darn signature!-á Oh, wait.... |

There's an issue being reported by some people that the Launcher may crash when you try to repair.
It's possibly (according to the information I have available) caused by a DLL that the launcher relies on that might have been damaged.
I'll edit this if I learn anything new. I can't get rid of my darn signature!-á Oh, wait.... |

This is far from typical, Daverous.
I've been playing off-and-on for about three years, and this is the first time I've ever seen the website, the server and the launcher break simulataneously. Plus, it's been building for about two days.
CCP is on the task, and they're very good at making sure that this isn't the usual pattern of operation.
Edit: One major item that indicates this isn't the usual: in all the time I've played, the biggest thing to go wrong has been that the website is down for maintenance, or the forums are offline for Scheduled DT. I've never seen my browser totally unable to find the website. I can't get rid of my darn signature!-á Oh, wait.... |

Small-business network tech here -- lost a server last year due to hardware failure. We had to build one from parts and restore (manually) from a two-year-old offsite backup.
CCP, you guys just cemented my trip to Fanfest next year -- I want to shake your hands for the dedication you've shown to your players in the past twenty-four hours. :) I can't get rid of my darn signature!-á Oh, wait.... |

Gaming God wrote:Hacker group LulzSec, the same group that's attacked Sony and Nintendo in the past, has tweeted that it's committed three distributed denial of service attacks against gaming companies today, bringing down EVE Online's Tranquility server, Minecraft's multiplayer services, and the Escapist Magazine's website. EVE Online's CCP has confirmed both the outage and the attack, the Escapist is unreachable at the moment, and Minecraft creator Notch says that things were down, but supposedly service has been restored.
LulzSec hasn't shared a reason for the attacks just yet, but we can only guess it's, as they say, "for teh lulz."
Update: The group has gone after Riot Games' League of Legends servers as well. Attempting to log in to the game gives a "server busy" message, though there's no official word from the company yet.
CCP, please tell us you're prosecuting the little zits. I can't get rid of my darn signature!-á Oh, wait.... |

One thing I've learned from bitter experience is that you don't drop a major patch on top of a system diagnostic. They're probably going to hold Odyssey back for a day or so to make sure eveything's stable. I can't get rid of my darn signature!-á Oh, wait.... |

floating in space wrote:This is probably the most incompetent game company in existence. Just saying.
I mean it's almost comical.
Just think of all of it together DUST, things like this, sometimes I think I'm dreaming.
A company that has just performed a sustained twenty-four-hour security diagnostic, regularly updated three Twitter accounts and a Facebook page, and refuses to bring the system up until it's properly secured against further attacks....
...is incompetent?
:EDIT: I know, I know...don't feed the trolls. I'm cranky from EvE withdrawal, okay?
:EDIT AGAIN: TQ just popped online, according to Eve Offline.net. Serenity/SISI/API all look like they're up to stay. I can't get rid of my darn signature!-á Oh, wait.... |
